The MediFresh diet program is designed to provide nutritional support for normal inflammatory response, allergies, detoxification, and gastrointestinal integrity. This is a unique formula that contains rice and pea protein powder in addition to multi-vitamins and botanicals optimized for advanced antioxidant and liver support!

How does the Program Work?

 

Phase 1:            6 weeks of 2 Shakes and 1 Lean & Green meal

  • 6 weeks labs include: ChemPanel and A1c
  • Follow up with a doctor when labs are back

Phase 2:            3 month program includes:

  • Continue 2 shakes with lean & green meal OR 1 shake and 2 lean and green meals
  • 3 month labs include: ChemPanel, A1c, Fasting Lipid Panel
  • Follow up with a doctor when your labs are back

Phase 3:            12 month plan/future plan

  • Continue on 1 shake a day and 2 lean & green meals
  • Plan for retesting 6-12 months after end of phase

 

FAQ

 

Is a low calorie diet harmful?

Low calorie diets are usually safe especially when done under medical supervision.  This program focuses on increasing nutrients and reducing calories.  Speak to your doctor about what a sensible caloric intake should be for you. 

 

 

Is soy butter/almond butter ok?

Specifically for our Mediclear Program, 2 shakes and 1 lean & green meal is recommended.  Although almond butter would be preferred over Soy butter, it is not generally recommended for this program.

 

 

What kind of salsa is ok?

Fresh tomato salsa is a great palate pleaser and easy to add to your lean & green meal.  Chop into small pieces a combination of tomato, onion, jalapeno,  finely cut cilantro, and fresh squeezed lime juice.

 

 

I found a ketchup that is sweetened with agave and has no sugar is that ok?

Although agave may have a lower glycemic index, it actually can be sweeter than sugar because it is high in fructose.  It is not recommended with the Mediclear program.

 

 

Are organic herbal coffee substitutes/ herbal teas ok? Is stevia ok?

Caffeine can be hard on your liver and this program will help give your liver a break.  You can have 1 cup of caffeine-free herbal tea or coffee substitute per day.   1 serving of Stevia per day is ok.

 

 

Salad is on the list, but I don’t know what kind of dressing do I use?

Generally, dressings should be low in calories, sugars and ingredients.  One of the best and easiest dressings is simply a couple teaspoons of olive oil, 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tsp of lemon juice, pinch of salt, and ½ tsp of crushed peppermint leaves.

 

 

I take wheatgrass, is that still ok, or do I need to stop taking it?

You can continue to take wheatgrass in moderation.  This will help you detox as you continue to lose weight with the Mediclear program.

 

 

Is Cottage cheese ok? How much?

Cottage cheese can be added to your lean & green meal.  It is a great staple to add because it is low in carbohydrates, sodium and calories.  It is also a good source of protein, fat, and vitamins.  For every 100gms (equivalent to 6.5 tablespoons) , there are 98 calories.

 

 

Are tofu burgers with nigari, sunflower oil, canola oil, yellow onion, carrot, kale, tapioca starch, sea salt and garlic powder ok?

Can be apart of Lean & Green meal, but eat in moderation.  You need a variety of foods so try and get more servings of grass-fed meats and vegetables.

 

 

What do I do if my blood sugar is low because juice is what I normally do?

What do I do if I am nauseous?

Consult with your doctor.

 

 

What do I do if I get hungry?

If you get hungry before the next time you have a shake or meal, trying drinking a glass of water and doing some deep breathing exercises.  Don’t forget you can have a small snack, such as a vegetable, to hold you over to the next meal.  Make sure you are using 2 scoops of the Mediclear powder per shake.

 

 

What kind of snacks can I eat and how much?

Types of snacks include vegetables such as bell peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, green beans and peas are also great snack ideas.  In terms of quantity, 1 cup full is a good portion.  Try alternating between snacks.  You can add an apple if you feel like you need a fruit choice, but keep it minimal.

 

 

Can you sauté vegetables and meat in olive oil?

It is best to try steamed or raw vegetables.

 

 

Is it ok to change the order of Phase 1 of the program?

Yes that is ok.  You can have 1 shake for breakfast, Lean & Green meal for lunch and 1 shake for dinner.

 

 

Are cheat meals allowed?  What if I do?

Since this is a calorie restricted diet, no cheat meals are recommended.  The goal of this program is to help you with weight loss in addition to help your body’s trillion of cells repair and regenerate.  We want to optimize your body function and help you reach a new level of health.

 

 

What to do about constipation?

A regular and normal bowel movement should be at least 1-2 per day.  If you are not eliminating well, consult your doctor to see if a fiber supplement or magnesium supplementation will be suitable for you.

 

 

How long can we do shakes for?  Longer than 6 weeks?

Yes. You can continue to Phase 2 and 3 of the program which will allow you to carry on this program for the next couple months.  Consult with your doctor if you have any concerns/questions about the long term phases of the Mediclear Program and to see if it is a good option for you.

 

 

Who can use the Mediclear Program? What are potential side effects?

This program is designed for adults and youth older than 12 years old and is recommended to do under the supervision of a medical practitioner.  Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant as it is not recommended for you.  Side effects can include weight loss, headaches, nausea, constipation, fatigue.  These symptoms are generally resolved in 3 – 10 days.

 

 

What qualifies as “Lean & Green”?

Lean & Green can be a mixed green salad with spinach, arugula, radicchio, romaine lettuce with a piece of protein such as chicken breast, grilled salmon, or roasted turkey.  Other ideas for lean & green include beets, soups, stir-fry, broccoli and chicken, chicken and mushrooms, hummus, kale salad, shrimp with garlic and basil, and vegetarian dips.  There is a wide variety of lean & green meals, just get creative and the key point is to make sure that this meal contains a good proportion of 1/2 low starch vegetables and 1/2 protein.

 

 

 Recipe Ideas for Lean & Green Meals

 

Kale Salad with grilled Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup kale, chopped, spine removed
  • ¼ cup of chopped cucumbers
  • ¼ cup of baby heirloom tomatoes
  • 1/8 cup chopped celery
  • 1/8 cup chopped red peppers
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 piece of grilled wild caught salmon

 

 

Turkey and Spinach Salad

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of organic spinach leaves
  • ½ cup of mushrooms
  • ½ cup of baby tomatoes
  • ¼ cup of parsley
  • 12 0z of turkey breast cut into strips
  • dressing: 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, ½ teaspoon of ginger
  • pinch of salt
