Here are a few tips to get the most of your time with us.

If you take supplements that contain many ingredients, you may bring them or a list of the ingredients to your visits.

If you have had any relevant tests done, such as blood tests, MRIs, or X-rays, please arrange to have copies of the reports with you. If you do not already have copies, you can request the ordering doctor's office to fax them to us at (480) 657-8693. Some offices may ask you to sign a form authorizing this. If you know the test data are important for your visit with us, you may even confirm that we received them a few days before your visit.

Since we try hard to educate people about their health, patients often take notes rather than rely on memory alone. This is especially important when following up with test results.

First visit
A typical patient of ours will have one pressing concern that initiates that appointment and one or two other lesser concerns. On the first visit allow for 60-90 minutes at our office. We will discuss your concerns and formulate plans on how to safely manage any symptoms and, most importantly, how to treat the causative factors. For patients in pain, treatment is often started the first visit.

Tests
Tests are performed to establish a definitive diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Based on what is checked, tests can take 2-21 days to be completed. A second visit will be arranged to review the test data and create a treatment plan which may consist of hormone replacement, natural medicines, acupuncture, therapeutic injections, intravenous nutrition, or detoxification. Please allow for 20-45 minutes at our office for follow-up visits.

Retesting and follow-up is often done 1-3 months after initial tests and less frequently as symptoms stabilize.

Corresponding with your Doctor
The doctors are always available for correspondence with existing patients. There are several options for this:

	•	Leave a detailed question with the office staff. The doctor will be able to relay a reply.
	•	Email your doctor directly. The office can provide you with the correct email address.
	•	Request a callback from the doctor. Please let the office know what time you are available and at which number we can reach you at.

All communications are replied to before the doctors leave each day.

You can expect the most detailed and thorough visit you have ever had with a physician. Because naturopathic medicine treats the whole person, our doctors learn as much as possible about their patients in order to get to the root cause of what bothers them. Many times symptoms are signals of more deep-lying disease and true health only comes with removal of this obstacle to cure.

During your initial visit, you will discusses treatment options with the doctor and collectively define your specific wellness plan.

As Naturopathic Medical Doctors, Drs. Christianson and Wazny have extensive training and experience that have demonstrated the tremendous effectiveness natural medicine can have for most medical conditions. However, there are specific instances when pharmaceutical medications are necessary and a standard prescription for patients with such needs can be written.
