Feed My Starving Children

The theme for this week is food and what could be more important? The IH team had an amazing time the other night working for Feed My Starving Children. We packaged enough meals that night to feed 43 children for 1 year!  It was fast paced and fun teamwork. Reminded me of my days working as a short order cook to help pay my way through college but with way more warm and fuzzy feelings. Each meal is called a ‘manna pack’ and consists of rice, dried protein, veggies, flavoring and vitamins. We even got to sample a cooked pack ourselves so we know what the kids were getting.  It was actually pretty tasty. Experiences like that make it clear that we have so much to be thankful for living in the modern world!

The paradox is that as part of the world has to work to get food, the rest of the world has to work to get quality food.  Thankfully that can now be a little easier.  The other big food story is my buddy JJ Virgin agreed to send her new cookbook out for free and ran out of all 11,000 in less than 24 hours.  For those of you that didn’t get one yet, she has a special offer for you to claim here. The recipes are great and all came from her group of incredible friends of which I’m honored to be a part of.  Look for my famous five a day shake and try a batch if you haven’t yet.  You can also check out a fun video some of my wife’s friends made about the mix.  The pageant world knows it as ‘beauty juice.’  Click here for the Pageant women’s ‘Beauty Juice’ Video.
